No official first-week sales figure exists yet, since the game launches November 19, 2026. Industry analysts, including those at investment firms covering Take-Two, project first-week gross revenue between $1.5 billion and $2.5 billion worldwide. That range is based on preorder data from PS5 and Xbox Series X|S digital stores, plus the franchise’s historical performance.
For context, GTA V sold about 11.2 million copies in its first three days in September 2013, generating roughly $1 billion. GTA 6 launches at a higher price point, $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate, and on a much larger install base of current-gen consoles, so unit sales could exceed 15 million in the opening week if supply holds. The Ultimate Edition carries a higher margin, which also lifts revenue per copy.
What affects the first week
- Digital-only release removes retail stock constraints, but also cuts physical impulse buys.
- PS5 Pro owners may upgrade, but no performance mode has been confirmed, so that effect is uncertain.
- PC is not announced, so no PC sales contribute to the week-one total.
Any figure above $2.5 billion would break industry records, but those are projections, not commitments. Rockstar has not commented on sales targets.
