GTA 6 on PC: everything that is actually known
PC players get the shortest official answer of anyone waiting for this game. Rockstar announced two platforms and stuck to them through two delays: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, releasing November 19, 2026. A PC version has not been mentioned in a trailer, a Newswire post, a store listing or an earnings call. That is not a hint, a tease or a soft confirmation. It is silence.
What "not announced" means in practice
Three things follow from it, and all three come up constantly in search:
- No release date. Not a day, not a season, not a year. Anyone publishing a GTA 6 PC date is publishing their own opinion.
- No pre-order. There is no product page on Steam, the Epic Games Store or the Rockstar Store. A site selling a PC pre-order or a key is selling something that does not exist.
- No official requirements. Rockstar publishes PC specs shortly before a PC release. No release, no specs.
It also means nobody has ruled a PC version out. Rockstar simply has not said anything either way, and the difference between "cancelled" and "unannounced" matters here.
Rockstar's porting history, read carefully
The table above is why most people expect a PC release eventually. GTA 4 reached PC eight months after the consoles. GTA 5 took about eighteen months, arriving in April 2015 after a September 2013 console launch, and then got a second life on Steam and a third on the current console generation. Red Dead Redemption 2 took roughly thirteen months. The original Red Dead Redemption took fourteen years, which is the row worth remembering before treating any of this as a schedule.
There is also a commercial argument that never appears in official statements: the PC port of GTA 5 sold for a decade, and leaving that money on the table permanently would be unusual. Reasonable, but still an argument, not information.
What a PC version would probably look like
If and when it happens, Rockstar's recent PC releases point at what to expect. GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 shipped with uncapped frame rates, wide graphics menus, ultrawide support and a built-in benchmark. Upscaling arrived too: Rockstar added DLSS to Red Dead Redemption 2 after launch, and DLSS and FSR are standard on new PC releases now. Mod support has never been official on any of them, though the community built its own tools anyway.
Every sentence in that paragraph describes past games. None of it is a feature list for GTA 6, and it should not be read as one.
Will GTA 6 be on Steam?
Unknown, and it is a question about a storefront for a version that has not been announced. For reference: GTA 5 arrived on PC through Rockstar's own launcher and Steam, while Red Dead Redemption 2 reached Steam about a month after its PC debut elsewhere. Nothing has been said about GTA 6 on Steam, the Epic Games Store or anywhere else on PC.
What PC players can do in the meantime
Not much, honestly, and that is better than pretending otherwise. If you plan to buy a machine for this game, buying it now to be ready for an unannounced release is the one clearly bad move: hardware gets cheaper and faster while you wait, and there is no date to be ready for. If you want a sense of the target anyway, the system requirements page works through the expected tiers.
The other option is playing it on console at launch. The platforms page lists what is supported, the price page covers the two editions, and the moment a PC version is announced it goes straight onto our news page and into this page's opening line.
