When was GTA 6 originally supposed to come out?

Short answer

GTA 6 was originally announced for 2025, then moved to May 26, 2026, and finally to November 19, 2026.

Updated Release

Rockstar first promised Grand Theft Auto VI for calendar year 2025 in Trailer 1, posted on December 4, 2023. No specific season or month was given, so the game was simply due sometime in 2025, as noted on the release date page.

That slipped. In a delayed timeline, Rockstar moved the release to May 26, 2026, then pushed it again to November 19, 2026. The current date is set for a simultaneous worldwide launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC version announced. Physical discs are not part of the release.

Preorders opened June 25, 2026, with a Standard edition at $79.99 and an Ultimate edition at $99.99. The November 19 date has not been called “final” by Rockstar, but it is the official date listed in storefronts as of September 1, 2026.
