This matches the industry trend: Grand Theft Auto V skipped the PS3 and Xbox 360 for its PC port, and Rockstar has moved fully to current-gen hardware. The Xbox One simply cannot handle the scale of GTA 6’s open world, the density of its simulation, or the 26-minute gameplay reveal shown in August 2026.
If you only own an Xbox One, your options are limited. You cannot play GTA 6 on that console. You would need to upgrade to an Xbox Series S or Series X to play it physically or digitally. Note that GTA 6 is digital-only at launch, so even on Series S, you will need an internet connection to download the game.
No cloud streaming version for Xbox One has been announced either. As of September 1, 2026, the only confirmed way to play is on current-gen hardware.
