Rockstar has not published a frame-rate target for any console. No performance mode, no fidelity mode, no numbers on either store page. Anyone telling you GTA 6 is 60 fps, or that it is locked to 30, is guessing.
What the showcase does and does not tell us
Compressed video at 30 fps cannot demonstrate a frame rate. The 26-minute extended look was captured and encoded for YouTube, which flattens exactly the information you would need. Frame-time analysis of a marketing video tells you about the encoder, not the game.
Rockstar’s track record
- GTA V on PS4 and Xbox One: 30 fps
- Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 and Xbox One: 30 fps
- The GTA V current-gen re-release in 2022 added a 60 fps performance mode, three years into the console generation
That last one is the interesting precedent. Rockstar can ship a 60 fps mode, but it did so on a five-year-old game with headroom to spare, not on a brand new flagship pushing hardware to its limit.
The PS5 Pro question
PS5 Pro exists and has more GPU capability, which does not automatically translate into a higher frame rate. Rockstar has made no statement about Pro support, enhanced modes, or anything else specific to that machine. Our PS5 Pro answer covers what little exists.
The realistic expectation
Ambitious open worlds at the start of their life tend to prioritise visual density over frame rate, and Rockstar in particular has never treated 60 fps as a launch requirement. A 30 fps target with an optional performance mode would fit the pattern. So would 30 fps only. Neither is announced.
Console details as they are confirmed go on the hardware page, and anything Rockstar states lands in news.
