Is GTA 6 better on PS5 Pro?

Short answer

PS5 Pro is expected to give the best console experience, but Rockstar has published no PS5 Pro enhancements, graphics modes or frame-rate targets for GTA 6.

Updated Platforms

Probably, but nobody can tell you by how much. PS5 Pro is on the supported list; what the game does with the extra hardware has not been detailed by Rockstar in any form.

The blank spaces

None of the following has been published for any console, Pro included:

  • Resolution targets
  • Frame-rate targets, including whether a 60 fps mode exists
  • The number of graphics modes, or whether there is a choice at all
  • Ray tracing behaviour
  • Any Pro-specific upscaling implementation

Every article promising 60 fps on Pro is filling those blanks with hope. Treat the numbers as unwritten until a Rockstar source writes them.

What the hardware suggests

Pro adds GPU throughput and a machine-learning upscaler over the base PS5. Where developers have used it, the payoff has usually been a cleaner image at a given frame rate, or a performance mode that stops wobbling, rather than a different-looking game. That is a reasonable shape to expect here too - but expecting a shape is not knowing the result.

Should you buy a Pro for it?

Not on the strength of an announcement that does not exist. If you already own one, you are on the strongest console available for this launch. If you own a base PS5, wait: the enhancement details, and then the actual comparisons after release, will tell you whether the upgrade buys anything you would notice from the sofa.

The full supported hardware list is in our platforms answer, and any technical breakdown Rockstar publishes will be covered in the news section.
