Lucia Caminos is one of the two characters you play as, and the first woman to lead a mainline Grand Theft Auto since the series went 3D. That alone made her the most discussed thing about the December 2023 announcement.
Where she starts
Behind bars. Trailer 1 opens on Lucia inside a correctional facility in the state of Leonida, and moves quickly to her back outside with Jason. How she got in, and how she got out, is left as a gap the game presumably fills.
How she is written
The footage shown so far frames her as the more deliberate of the two - the one weighing an option while the situation deteriorates. Rockstar has not published a character biography beyond what the videos communicate, so anything more specific about her background, family or motives is somebody’s reading of a trailer rather than established fact.
What is not known
- How much of the game is hers versus Jason’s.
- Whether her missions can be played independently of his.
- Any detail of her arc past the opening act.
Why the Bonnie and Clyde comparison keeps appearing
Because the trailers invite it: two people, one relationship, a run of robberies, and an obvious question about how it ends. It is a useful shorthand and a lazy one - the comparison has been applied to the pairing so often that it now substitutes for actually describing what the footage shows.
