Short answer

Rockstar Games develops GTA 6, with parent company Take-Two Interactive publishing it.

Updated Gameplay

Grand Theft Auto VI is being developed and published by Rockstar Games. The game is being built across its studios, including Rockstar North in Edinburgh, which led previous GTA titles, with support from Rockstar San Diego, New England, and others. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, handles the commercial release.

Rockstar confirmed the November 19, 2026 launch date on its Newswire and via PlayStation and Xbox store listings. The company has not announced a PC version, so at launch the game is exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Physical discs are not part of the release, so digital distribution is handled through Sony and Microsoft’s stores.

For gameplay, expect the same open-world structure Rockstar is known for, but the studio has said little about mechanics. The August 27, 2026 “An Extended Look” video showed Lucia and Jason in a modern-day Vice City, with driving, gunplay, and heist elements visible. No online mode has been announced, so the core experience is single-player at launch.
