Will GTA 6 have age verification?

Short answer

No, GTA 6 will not have an in-game age verification system at launch.

Updated Gameplay

Rockstar has not announced any age verification feature for Grand Theft Auto VI. The game itself carries an adult rating, and access is controlled at the platform level: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles already require account age confirmation and parental controls where needed. Nothing in the official store listings or Newswire posts mentions a separate in-game check.

What you actually get

At purchase, the digital storefront verifies your account’s birth date. On PS5, that ties into the console’s family management settings. Xbox does the same via Microsoft account settings. Once the game is installed, there is no additional prompt for ID or age proof.

The 26:49 “An Extended Look” video from August 27, 2026 has an age restriction on YouTube, but that is a platform rule for trailers, not a game feature. GTA 6 itself is single-player only at launch, so there is no online lobby where age checks might matter for chat or matchmaking. If a separate online mode arrives later, Rockstar could add verification then, but nothing is confirmed.
