No - and the reason is more fundamental than a policy decision. There is no announced GTA 6 online mode. A transfer needs a destination, and Rockstar has not announced one.
What people are actually asking
Usually one of four things:
- Does my GTA Online character move across?
- What happens to my GTA$ balance?
- Do properties, businesses and vehicles come with me?
- Does GTA Online shut down?
The answer to the first three is the same: nothing has been announced, in either direction. The fourth is the one with a clearer answer - GTA Online continues to run as its own product. Rockstar has given no end date for it and has kept updating it through the GTA 6 marketing campaign.
The precedent nobody likes
When GTA Online moved from PS3 and Xbox 360 to PS4 and Xbox One, and later to PS5 and Xbox Series, Rockstar allowed one-time character migrations within the same game. That is a different thing from moving a character into a new game with a different economy, different vehicle roster and different map. Red Dead Online started fresh. So did GTA Online itself.
Should you stop spending in GTA Online?
That is a personal call, but the honest framing is this: treat anything you buy in GTA Online as belonging to GTA Online. Buying on the assumption it converts into something in a future game means betting on a product that has not been announced.
