Leonida is not one environment repeated. The footage released so far cuts between at least five visually distinct zones, and the transitions between them happen while you drive rather than behind a loading screen.
The areas shown in official footage
Vice City
Dense, vertical and coastal. Hotel strip on one side, glass downtown on the other, port facilities to the edges. This is where the crowd density and the shopfront interiors are most obvious.
The keys
A chain of low islands off the southern coast, connected by long bridges. Shallow water, stilt houses, boat traffic. It reads as the place you go when you need to leave the city fast.
Wetlands
Sawgrass, airboats, raised highway. The showcase spends real time here, and it is the clearest visual break from anything GTA V had.
Small towns and inland country
Strip malls, motels, gas stations, trailer parks and long straight roads. Cheaper, quieter and shot with a different colour grade than the city.
Higher ground
Some footage shows elevated forested terrain, which is a departure from real Florida geography but gives the map somewhere to put winding roads.
A note on names
Several region names circulate in fan wikis and aggregator articles. Some come from Rockstar material, others from leaked builds or from people reading signage in trailer frames at quarter speed. Treat any specific list you see, including ours, as provisional until Rockstar publishes a map of its own.
How the areas connect
- Highways link the city outward in several directions
- Water routes matter - boats reach places roads do not
- Aircraft appear in footage over both city and swamp
Detail on each area, updated as more footage lands, lives on the map page. New reveals go to news.
