Where is GTA 6 located?

Short answer

GTA 6 is set in Leonida, a fictional version of Florida, with the main city being Vice City, a stand-in for Miami.

Updated Map

Grand Theft Auto VI takes place in the state of Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional take on Florida. The primary setting is Vice City, the series’ long-running stand-in for Miami, which returns for the first time since 2006’s Vice City Stories. The map also includes surrounding areas like swamps, beaches, and smaller towns, modeled after the Florida Keys and the Everglades.

An Extended Look, the 26-minute gameplay video released on August 27, 2026, confirmed that Vice City itself is denser and more vertical than any previous GTA city. It shows neon-lit streets, a sprawling beachfront, and interior spaces that appear fully enterable. The rural parts of Leonida, such as the fictional equivalent of the Florida panhandle, are also visible in the trailer, suggesting a mix of urban and wild terrain.

Rockstar has not given an official map size in square kilometers. Community estimates from the trailers point to a map larger than GTA V’s, but that remains unconfirmed. What is clear is that Leonida is designed to feel like a parody of modern Florida, from its architecture to its roadside attractions, rather than a simple remake of the 1980s Vice City.
