Rockstar acquired Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, in 2023. That acquisition is a fact, but no modding tools or server infrastructure for GTA 6 have been announced. The franchise has never shipped with built-in story co-op, and GTA Online is a separate mode, not a campaign feature.
What this means for you
If you want to play with friends at launch, GTA 6 will not offer that. The game is designed as a solo story first. Any co-op or online plans, if they exist, have not been dated, priced, or described. Treat anything you read about “GTA Online 2” as rumour until Rockstar posts something official.
