GTA 6 ships without online play on launch day. The game launches November 19, 2026 as a single-player title only. Rockstar has not announced any online mode for GTA 6, neither its content nor a launch window. Everything about a possible “GTA Online 2” remains speculation.
What this means for players
If you buy the game at launch, you get the story mode and nothing else online. The PlayStation Store and Xbox Store listings for the Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate ($99.99) editions describe only the single-player campaign and pre-order bonuses, like the Vintage Vice City Pack. No online component is mentioned anywhere official.
Rockstar did acquire Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, back in 2023. That purchase suggests they care about player-run servers, but no modding tools or server support for GTA 6 have been confirmed. Do not expect any online features on day one.
When online could arrive is anyone’s guess. The gap between GTA 5’s console launch and its PC port was 19 months, but that is a different situation. Rockstar has not even hinted at a timeline for GTA 6 online, so treat any date you see as a rumour, including the release date.
